Set Brightness, Color, and Position by What the User Can See

Exact output targets are less useful than a route test because cabinet height, countertop reflectivity, open doorways, and the user's night sensitivity change the visible result. Start warm and dim, then increase only until the route boundaries and destination are unambiguous.

Should the whole cabinet run turn on at night?

Usually no. Light the entry, any lost travel boundary, and the destination. A full run is useful only when it defines the actual route without creating glare or spilling excessive light into adjoining rooms.

Is motion control always more accessible?

No. It is useful when it activates before the user must reach a switch, but it becomes distracting when pets or unrelated traffic repeatedly trigger it. In that case, use a reachable hand-sweep control or a simpler manual fallback.
